Graduate and Professional Student Assembly Election-Spring 2022

Membership in the GPSA shall be made available to all matriculated graduate and professional students of the University, and shall consist of:
  • Representatives selected from each graduate field and professional school (hereafter referred to as Field representatives)
  • Registered students from Divisions defined by the Graduate School are eligible to run for Voting member positions
The 14 Voting members who represent the divisions of the Graduate School will be elected at the GPSA meeting on April 25, 2022.

Information about the Spring 2022 Graduate and Professional Student Assembly election

  • Call for Nominations
    • BEGINS April 1, 2022 at 8:00AM EST
    • ENDS April 11, 2022 at 8:00AM EST
  • Candidate Forum
    • Monday, April 11th, 2022 at 5:30 PM (EST) in 701 Clark Hall (during the GPSA meeting)
  • Voting Begins
    • Monday, April 18th, 2022 @ 8:00 AM EST
  • Voting Ends
    • Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 @ 12:00 PM EST

Application Process:

You must do these things prior to becoming a candidate:

  1. Be a registered student in a field defined by the Graduate School
  2. Select which seat you will be running for based on one of the following disciplines:
    1. Arts & Humanities (3 seats)
    2. Life Sciences (3 seats)
    3. Physical Sciences and Engineering (4 seats*)
      1. *At least one seat shall be from an engineering field and at least one seat shall be from a non-engineering field.
    4. Social Sciences (4 seats)
    5. Masters At-Large (1 seat)
    6. Masters of Engineering (1 seat)
    7. *The Professional Schools (Law, Johnson, and Vet), CILA, and MILR will hold internal elections.*
  3. Additionally, nominations are being accepted for the following committee chairpersons, who are also voting members for the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly:
    • Chair of the Diversity and International Students Committee (DISC)
    • Chair of the Faculty Teaching, Advising, and Mentorship Award Committee (Faculty Awards)
    • Chair of the Graduate and Professional Student Programming Board (GPSPB)
    • Chair of the Student Advocacy Committee (SAC)
    • Lastly, we are also accepting nominations for the following seats:
    • General Committee of the Graduate School (GC) Delegate (two-year term)
    • University Assembly (UA) Delegates (4 seats)
  4. Email the Elections Committee at gpsa@cornell.edu to nominate yourself or another field member.
    1. If you plan to nominate someone other than yourself, please also include them in the email.
  5. Nominations will be accepted until 8:00AM (EST) on Monday, April 11, 2022
