Notes

Good evening President Pollack,

I would like to convey Resolution 21: Affirming the Student Assembly & Graduate and Professional Assembly Cornell Health Survey and the attached report.

By a unanimous vote of 22-0-0*, the Student Assembly recommends that the Student Health Fee be increased an additional $20-30 on top of the 10% increase recommended by the Student Health Benefits Advisory Committee (SHBAC) and Cornell Health. The Student Assembly further recommends that this allocation be committed toward increasing the number of mental health providers at Cornell with a focus on broadening identity groups represented within the provider team. This determination came after an analysis of over 3,000 survey results.

While the resolution recommended both hiring more mental health providers and opening Cornell Health on Sundays, the ensuing discussion within SHBAC led the sponsors (myself and Joe) to seek to place emphasis on mental health provider growth.

I hope the attached resolution and report assist in the decision making process. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

(the resolution is attached because the website has not been updated)

Best,

Varun A. Devatha

President | Student Assembly

*the official vote tally is 21-0-1, but after the vote, the single abstaining member sought to reverse her vote to a yes
