Over the years the Faculty Senate has recommended steps to be taken in order to maintain a high-quality level of shared governance. Electing faculty members to serve on the Senate-At-Large and other committees ensures faculty voices are present in the decision-making process at Cornell.

The Office of the Assemblies supports the Dean of Faculty in all of its faculty-wide elections. Faculty have five voting seats on the University Assembly, and serve on its committees.
