Dear Preston,

The Graduate School Dean and leadership team prepare extensive data reports and meet with the Director of Graduate Studies for each graduate degree-granting field. At these meetings the Graduate School provides data on degree milestones (A exam, B exam), funding by category (RA, TA, Cornell fellowship, external fellowship), attrition, and time to degree. Since spring 2020, the Graduate School also receives from fields a list of students whose summer funding support has been reduced or withdrawn related to the pandemic for the purpose of providing supplemental summer support. Most recently, on March 7, University leadership announced additional funding for graduate students through increases in emergency funds, dependent care grants, and research travel grant funds

The Graduate School team looks forward to continued conversations with the GPSA leadership regarding the pandemic’s impact on graduate students.

Sincerely,

Martha E. Pollack
