Dear President Pollack,

It is my pleasure to formally notify you of U.A. Resolution 5 "Creating an Ad Hoc Budget Planning Advisory Committee."

This resolution was sponsored by our Ranking Staff Member, Linda Copman.  It was passed by the full Assembly at our meeting of May 7, 2019.  Its purpose is to build upon AY 2017 - 2018 Resolution #9 (Reinstating the Budget Planning Committee) and discussions that took place this year with Provost Kotlikoff, EVP DeStefano, and VP Malina concerning ways to provide additional community input into the budgetary process.  This resolution creates an ad-hoc committee that will meet jointly with the Faculty Senate's Financial Policies Committee, provide confidential community input, and create a "users guide" to the budgeting process for the benefit of the Cornell Community.  It is our hope that, should the ad-hoc committee perform well, its role will eventually be formalized into a permanent committee of the Assembly.

Since this Resolution is within the scope of the Assembly's current authority, it does not require a formal review and acceptance by you.  However, as in all actions of the Assembly, we value your insight and would want to address any questions or concerns you or the administration might have

Thank you for your time and consideration.  Please let me know should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Matthew
